Mobile Optimized

Considering that there are over 2.1 billion smartphone users worldwide, improving mobile commerce and conversions should be a priority for every eCommerce business.

75% of consumers complete research online prior to making a purchase. A significant portion of these consumers conducts this research using their mobile phones. Global mobile commerce revenue is estimated to reach $669 billion dollars by the end of 2018, and companies that are not actively working toward increasing mobile conversions stand to lose a substantial source of revenue.

In order to take advantage of the profits that can come from mobile commerce, eCommerce businesses need to optimize their websites to help them increase mobile conversions. Almost one-third of all online sales come from mobile users, so you cannot afford to neglect your mobile users when you are building your website and implementing changes.

Wagento client Soak&Sleep has learned just how important it is to engage mobile customers through seamless Magento-powered technology. Back in 2016, the family-run UK-based business switched to Magento after realizing most comparable eCommerce platforms just did not suit the company’s needs, especially in time for a major retail event like Black Friday.

With the help of Magento Commerce 2, Soak&Sleep was able to introduce such features as countdown timers and customized modules to streamline the process both for the business and consumer. The site went live in November, just in time for Black Friday, without a hitch. The downtime was minimal, and page load time was enviably fast. This led to great success, with a 20% increase in Average Order Value. Today, Sleep&Soak boasts millions in revenue and continues to improve upon its eCommerce technology for optimal growth.

Your business too can experience the same stunning growth seen by Soak and Sleep. Here are a few tips that will help you gain more mobile conversions and assist your mobile users:

Increase Your Speed

Mobile users are likely to abandon your website if it takes more than 3 seconds to load. One of the best ways to keep consumers on your website so they can convert it to increase your loading speed. Use a mobile responsive theme, use a content delivery network, and utilize caching in order to speed up your website.

Use Optimized Images

Images take up a lot more bandwidth than text. One of the best ways to make it easy for your mobile users to access and browse your website is to compress and optimize your images. This makes them load faster and reduces their file size without reducing their quality or visibility.

Use a Mobile-Friendly Menu or Navigation Bar

When your mobile users visit your website, they should be able to go to any of your web pages with ease. Make sure your menu is large enough for users to see it and intuitive enough for them to use. Mobile users will abandon your website if they cannot figure out how to navigate your site, make purchases or find the page with your products or services.

Consider implementing multiple themes for your website so that your desktop or laptop users will see navigational tools that are easiest for them to use while your mobile users will see navigational tools that are optimized for their mobile experience.

Improve Your Security

Your mobile users want to know that they can trust your company and your website when they are researching your products and services. One of the best ways to increase mobile conversions is by adding security icons or a padlock icon to show users that their data is encrypted and you value their privacy and security. Adding a security icon to the checkout button has been proven to increase revenue for several eCommerce businesses.

Streamline Your Checkout Process

Mobile users do not want to deal with the time and hassle of filling out long forms when they are ordering a product or subscribing to a list or program on your website. Streamline your checkout process by allowing them to check out as a guest and reducing the amount of information you require them to provide.

Make it easy for your mobile users to access your checkout page by making your checkout buttons large and easy to press with a finger. The easier you make it for your mobile users to visit the pages or take the actionable steps you desire, the more likely it is that they will convert. Adding tools like PayPal Express Checkout buttons to your checkout page and allowing consumers to auto-select their credit card type has been shown to boost revenue for eCommerce businesses.
